A ministry partnership

Escalon Covenant Enabling Residence is a partnership of the Evangelical Covenant Church and Escalon Covenant Church, Escalon, Calif. A congregation with varied backgrounds, preferences and ages, the members of Escalon Covenant Church like to think of their church as one small part of God’s household. Embracing adults with developmental disabilities is a natural expansion of the family.

From its earliest years, the Evangelical Covenant Church has cared for those in need. The Covenant’s tradition of excellence and compassion embraces adults with developmental disabilities.

The first Covenant residences for adults with developmental disabilities opened near Chicago in 1994. There are now five Covenant Enabling Residences in three states. One is an intermediate care residence; the others offer supportive independent living. The most recent addition—with one home for six men and another for six women—opened in Muskegon, Mich., in 2001.
